Greta

In August of 2018, Greta Thunberg a 15-year-old student in Sweden starts a school strike for the climate. Her question for adults: if you don’t care about her future on earth, why should she care about her future in school? Within months her strike evolves into a global movement. Greta, a quiet Swedish girl with Asperger's syndrome is now a world famous activist. The team behind “Greta Vs Climate” is with her from the start, and is sailing with her across the Atlantic in time for UN Climate Week in September 2019.

The average Senate member is 61 years old, meaning that by 2050, most of today’s politicians will either be dead or living in retirement homes. This makes them lucky, because by 2050 climate scientists believe that our planet will be an entirely different place if we don’t do something about climate change now. When fifteen year old Greta Thunberg learned we only have a few years left to save our planet from climate catastrophe, she couldn’t understand why the adults around her weren’t doing anything. “Why doesn’t anyone act like we’re in the middle of a crisis? Why isn’t the media informing us about this downfall everyday? How do people not worry about this all the time?”

In response, she went on a school strike--after all, if adults don’t care about her future on earth, why would she care about her future in school?

With a thin plywood-poster, a raincoat and a bunch of flyers, Greta began sitting outside the Swedish parliament. This documentary follows one of the world’s most attentive activists from her first steps towards creating a protest to becoming a leading figure within a movement endorsed by world leaders and celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Gore, Leonardo Di Caprio, Emmanuel Macron and Antonio Guterres. She transformed her family into climate activists and won an environmental writers award. Partly due to her Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis, climate is the only thing on her mind.

But will her strike develop into global action? Will she manage to hold the faith of humanity on her tiny shoulders? Greta’s story is one of climate-anxiety in an era of consumerism. About taking things in your own hands when nobody’s listening. A David against Goliath story with the future of humanity at stake.
