Justice for Sale

Justice for Sale; “when the system fails, everyone is a victim”

Justice for Sale follows a young, courageous human rights lawyer Claudine Tsongo (31) who refuses to accept that justice is indeed “For Sale” in her country.
Blessed with a strong, outspoken and influential character, we following Claudine during her work and private live. Claudine is determined to fight for justice and to end impunity in the Congo at great personal risk and against all odds. This is a story about courage, strength and hope for a better Congo.

We follow Claudine when she takes on the case of a low ranking soldier convicted of rape. When she discovers that his trial was unfair and without any hard evidence, she begins a journey to obtain the evidence that will hopefully help to set him free. In the process, she detects that his case is not unique. More and more men are convicted for rape without evidence and locked up while the real perpetrators easily buy their way out. Claudine is faced with a system that is so dysfunctional that the word ‘justice’ has lost all its meaning. She makes it her mission to expose this alarming new problem and start investigates it.

Claudine discovers that this new problem, were people don’t receive an equal trial process, are caused by the involvement of NGOs that organize most of the tribunals. The NGOs that organize and pay for the tribunals only support and defend the victims. The accused don’t receive the same equal defence, and this results that most accused are sentenced to lengthy, unjustified prison terms.

Claudine is determined to fight for justice and to end impunity in the Congo at great personal risk and against all odds. This is a story about courage, strength and hope for a better Congo.
