Reefs At Risk

Malina Fagan & Lynn Pelletier – Fagan Films

A story that explores the harmful effects some sunscreens have on coral reefs, marine life and human health, and promotes safe alternatives. This award-winning short film has been seen by over two million people and helped pass historic legislation in Hawaiʻi banning the sale of sun-screens with oxybenzone and octinoxate. The aim now is to show Reefs At Risk in schools throughout Hawaiʻi and to reach more tourists. The program is also being expanded into The Cover Up, a feature film about the toxic chemicals in most personal care products and cosmetics, which contribute three million tons of ocean pollution each year.
