ACORD (Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development)

ACORD is an Africa-led alliance working for social justice and development in 17 countries in Africa with secretariat in Nairobi. We work in common cause with people living in poverty and those who have been denied their rights and we support locally rooted citizen movements. Underlying our work is the belief that people themselves are the primary actors in their own development. Through the power of collective action African citizens can transform their future.

Involvement in film

ACORD commissioned 'Condom commandos' to document a successful project on HIV in Angola and to highlight the use of the 'Stepping stones' methodology. It was made by the UK based team Media Co-op and funded by Oxfam GB and Oxfam Novib.

ACORD's staff in Rwanda made 'Women and girl heads of households in post-conflict Rwanda' jointly with the Rwanda based company Video Acacia.
