Good Pitch is an unparalleled opportunity to gain invaluable cross-sector insight into how great documentaries, with the help of great partners, can change the world. An unmissable event in the annual diary for anyone interested in social change.

Good Pitch is an opportunity for foundations, NGOs, filmmakers, brands and great movers and shakers to connect and launch great possibilities!

Good Pitch is a very unique opportunity to embrace the power of visual storytelling , the potential of strong partnerships, and – most of all – the joy of making a difference.

I went three years ago to Good Pitch San Francisco and developed a serious crush. I had to come back to New York to see if it was just a summer camp romance. But no, indeed, my affection runs deep. This model WORKS!

It strikes me that one of the things good pitch does brilliantly (besides so much else) is harness the power of networks

The #goodpitch challenge: try to get through these trailers with dry eyes. Failed at every hurdle.

James Sadri, Greenpeace

Good Pitch live events offer a day long immersion into some of the best storytelling & independent journalism in the world. Stories that bring us closer to the lives of people we might never know; stories that enrich and inform our own understanding of the times we live in and the challenges we face.
Ready to receive these stories are an exceptional & rich group of specially invited artists, journalists, lawyers, human rights defenders, community organisers, policy makers, broadcasters, bloggers, social entrepreneurs and more.

Leaders from across civil society, whose expertise, experience and interests relate directly to the films being presented. Where the single charge for the room is to lean forward and think about what help and advice they can offer each team to make sure these stories reach the audiences that matter. Where everyone leaves with new ideas & connections.

So when people ask who can come to Good Pitch?

The answer is everyone is welcome.

Just come ready for radical collaboration.

Filmmakers

Good Pitch was inspired by the forums of IDFA and Hotdocs. We just took a broadcaster focused model and evolved it to include potential collaborators from all over civil society.
What are the implications? It is a different energy to a TV pitching forum. There are different priorities and commitments being made in the room for which you will need to prepare thoughtfully.
Yes you will likely raise funds for your film. In the past 10 years, over $30 million has been raised in funds for participating filmmakers for both production and outreach.

With a defined campaign but large hurdles we need the kind of speedy, fine-tuned connecting that only Good Pitch can bring. Hearing individuals say “I can help you with that problem” makes you feel that anything is, in fact, possible!

But funding is only a part of the value of Good Pitch.

The combined, wisdom and expertise, networks and contacts made from the live event are powerful and priceless. Allies who will help imagine how your film can serve social change movements - way beyond one night on TV or one week at the cinema.

What kind of films work at Good Pitch?

Every kind of subject and all creative documentary forms can work at Good Pitch. Go to our Films Page to see a list of films that have appeared at Good Pitch.

What is essential is an open and enquiring mind from the filmmakers. To look beyond traditional funding and distribution models and reimagine how we can reach audiences that matter.

Watch how Good Pitch Europe supports filmmakers across the region

The Good Pitch experience was awesome and tremendous. Workshops were critical in formulating message and language around the impact campaign. Relationships formed were extraordinary. We were able to generate huge interest and support for when the film is finished and we are ready to launch. We also conducted a ‘Brain trust’ the following day and invited key partners and funders for deep discussions. This was a critical part of our research and development and will inform the building of our impact campaigns.

It truly was an experience; an inspiriting one and a learning experience. I had heard Good Pitch was 'super powerful', prestigious etc, but nothing prepared me for the 'Good-Ness' that resonates in this pitch. Thank you for this.

The entire Good Pitch experience has been amazing for us and really forced us to conceptualise (and now execute) our outreach plans.

We couldn’t have made Project Wild Thing without the valuable relationships we formed at Good Pitch. Good Pitch connected us with some amazing partners and new friends, as well as generating interest, excitement and great vibes around the project.

Impact Producers

Over ten years of this programme, it has become clear that the missing link for so many film teams was the Impact Producer - the person responsible for maximizing a film’s potential for social change.
This is such an exciting new professional class who are emerging and organising in every continent.
And to support this practice, we are committed to inviting a cohort of Impact Producers to take part in all the Good Pitch national programmes, including the Impact Labs and at the live events. So directly growing networks and capacity.
With limited places available, we have also published training materials and case studies in the Impact Field Guide which are free to use and share and teach. As well as organising the physical gathering at the Global Impact Producers Assembly where over 100 colleagues from around the work gather to share latest campaigns and get advice.
If you can take part in Good Pitch, brilliant we can’t wait to meet you.
If you can’t - please do use all the resources available and come join us at the Global Impact Producers Assembly.

Good Pitch gave us a wonderful opportunity to workshop our concepts for outreach, and ultimately come out the far end of the weekend with a scalable and measurable campaign, as well as the start up funds to build the key elements.

Change Makers

If you are new to the Good Pitch family - well welcome and thank you for taking the time to explore this programme.
To date over 4600 different organisations, foundations, NGO’s have attended Good Pitch events around the world. For many, it is has become an essential date in the calendar. So what is all the fuss about?
{% trans "There are so many ways to create change; from directly empowering communities, to lobbying lawmakers, to producing public information campaigns etc. Likely documentary filmmaking has not been a core part of your change strategy. Good Pitch is a way to imagine how we can collaborate with the best storytellers of our generation. To unlock the power of narrative to communicate complicated ideas in these complicated times. " context "people" %}

As well as helping individual films, we aim to change the playing field for everyone. We are commited to building up a global 'good' network of filmmakers and change organizations ready for collaboration. We guarantee you are going to meet some extraordinary new friends and allies in the Good Pitch room - peers and colleagues working around your issue but from a different part of civil society.

10 years after its launch, Good Pitch has become a shining model of catalytic change, showcasing not just documentary, but what documentary can do in the world. A response to the 21st century realities we face, Good Pitch emboldens film, filmmakers and their stories in their power to create a haven and a beacon for dignity, justice and community.

A fantastic way to meet people who are not just the usual suspects! People from other walks of life but with a shared interest around the films. I’ve been talking about it to anyone who will listen ever since!
