Elisa Paloschi

As a documentary director, producer and cinematographer, Elisa Paloschi is drawn to stories that reflect the diversity of the human voice. Her latest feature documentary Driving with Selvi (www.drivingwithselvi.com) premiered in 2015 at Raindance Independent Film Festival in London; since then it has appeared at over 100 festivals around the world, winning awards including Best Documentary at the Atlantic Film Festival, was an Audience Top 10 Favourite at IDFA (International Documentary Festival Amsterdam), broadcast in multiple countries, and rated #1 best documentary of 2016 by London Time Out Magazine.

Since presenting at Good Pitch EU in 2013, followed by Good Pitch2 in India in 2014, Elisa has been developing an ambitious multi-phase Audience Engagement and Social Impact Campaign for the film. In partnership with organizations working on the frontline of girls’ and women’s empowerment, the campaign aims to leverage the power of the film and Selvi’s story as a catalyst for social change and gender equality in India. It advocates for, and educates on key issues including child marriage, gender-based violence and women in the workforce.

Elisa and Selvi recently completed Selvi’s Bus Tour, a 25-day screening tour which took the film to 30 communities across 4 states. Partnering with local organizations including Aga Khan Foundation, Plan India, Magic Bus and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the film and post screening discussion sessions reached close to 3000 girls and women, from urban slums to remote rural hamlets to government hostels.

Today, Elisa is working on the campaign’s next phase, with the goal to see the film reach girls India-wide. Wont you join us?
