Today, only men preach in mosques, but now a circle of progressive Muslims open the first mosque in Europe run by female Imams. Its members all share one conviction: they want to confront and challenge fears and concerns surrounding Islam and to create an alternative to existing readings of the Koran, thereby effecting a break with established gender hierarchies.
