In January 2011, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall fronted a highly successful TV and online campaign, which exposed the madness of discards - a policy which sees hundreds of thousands of tonnes of fish wasted every year. In 6 months, 750,000 people have signed up to the petition asking the EU Parliament to stop discards.
In order to roll the Fish Fight campaign out through Europe and help change European fishing policy for the better, we need to make TV programmes in France, Germany, Poland and Spain. We will simultaneously launch digital campaigns (websites, Facebook and Twitter) to coincide with the transmission dates. Our aim is to have 2 million signatures for our petition and keep the pressure up on all policy makers across Europe as the Common Fisheries Policy reform process takes place.
