Good Pitch brings the most compelling social change documentary films in front of change-makers - government agencies and corporations, multinationals, corporates, NGOs, activists, philanthropists etc. Conceived by the British non-profit organisation Doc Society, various Good Pitch events are held in a different part the world all year round, as an example - Good Pitch Europe, Good Pitch Asia, Good Pitch Australia, to name but a few.

Following the success of Good Pitch Ke 2016 that supported great Kenyan documentary films like Thank You For The Rain, the most impactful documentary film pitch in the world will be returning to the East African Region as Good Pitch Ke 2020! Hosted by Docubox in partnership with Doc Society, and with the support of Kenya Film Commission, we shall seek to form coalitions, bring together unlikely allies and supporters around the 6 or 7 carefully selected incredible social change films from the East African Region.

Among the real-world impact films to have come from Good Pitch Ke 2016 so far, we must celebrate Thank You For The Rain, co-directed by Julia Dahr and Kisilu Musya which has since seen the film being used as a tool to combat the negative effects of climate change and to create awareness at global conferences all over the world and, most impressively, the film also enabled the construction of an earth dam in Mutomo - Kitui; Kisilu’s home town.

Strike a Rock by Aliki Saragas a University of Cape Town student at the time went on to win Backsberg-Encounters Audience Award for Best South African Documentary at the 19th Encounters International Documentary Film Festival the following year (2017). Survivors by Arthur Pratt a film director from Sierra Leone which, with unflinching intimacy places us in the midst of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone was just recently nominated for Best Outstanding Social Issue Documentary at the Emmy Awards in 2019!
